Gonzalo Higuain is inching closer to joining Premier League giants Chelsea in January
The Blues are desperate to bolster their attacking as they seek to finish in the EPL top-four – Higuain’s agent is said to have arrived in London to seal
The west London side is desperate to find a formidable forward who can effectively replace Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud who have been struggling in front of goal. According to a UK Metro report, Higuain’s agent has already arrived in London ahead of the completion of the player’s deal. The Argentine forward is said to be unhappy at the San Siro, and therefore would be open to have a reunion with Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri on his part has not hidden his desire to work with Higuain again having asked the Chelsea board to sign the 31-year-old last summer. The Italian tactician has previously made it public that he is dissatisfied with Morata’s output which has often forced him to play Eden Hazard out of position.
Despite standing a pole position of landing Higuain’s services, the Blues still face a daunting task of convincing Milan to let the forward leave.
The Serie A side reportedly want Higuain’s replacement before sanctioning the departure of the former Real Madrid star. Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Premier League club Chelsea have stepped their pursuit for Inter Milan talisman Mauro Icardi as Roman Abramovich has picked up interest in the Argentine. The Russian billionaire is taking charge of the Blues rebuilding program and is ready to spend a whopping £100million for the Serie A star.
